Overcomes hardships and Scott Suggs to claim the crown!

Anthony Gagliardi took the 2011 UMF title with a thrilling victory over fellow FLW Pro Scott Suggs on Michigan's Mullett Lake. After losing multiple bites during the shootout, Gagliardi managed to boat two more keepers to outpace Suggs in the final round. "It got tough and it got tough quick", said Gagliardi. "When these northern smallies decide to move out, they can literally be anywhere. And usually, anywhere means suspended under bait which makes them practically uncatchable."  Scott Suggs had a particularly tough time after his shallow bite disappeared. "I really should have had a plan B, maybe largemouth in the river or something. It's not like we didn't know throughout the course of the competition that these fish were on the move" said Suggs. Both competitors are to be congratulated for a tremendous job in making it to the finals.
