Last Quarter Comeback Propels Andy Morgan to Victory over Mark Davis and a rematch with David Walker in the Finals!
The Ultimate Match Fishing Title Match is now set as Andy Morgan makes the most of his Wildcard qualification to defeat Mark Davis on Lake Dardanelle and set up a rematch with close friend and fellow FLW rival David Walker in the Championship.

“I’m absolutely blown away,” said Morgan after being declared the winner by just .09 of a pound, 14.19 to 14.10 for Davis.

“This means a lot to me to win this match against such an incredible angler like Mark Davis. To have the opportunity to spend the day in the boat with him and watch how he approaches the lake, the tough conditions and how he attacks the fish is just incredible.”

“My hats off to Andy,” said 3-time Angler of the Year and Bassmaster Classic champion Mark Davis. “I was worried going into that fourth quarter and as you saw, for good reason. Andy is one heck of an angler and to get to watch him go to work on those fish was tough at the time, but I actually learned a thing or two, I’ll tell you that.”

The match began with Mark Davis taking control of the boat in the 1st period and heading to Shoal Creek only to find that the early bite was resulting in a lot of fish, just not the right size fish. Davis even commented to Morgan that when the short ones are biting, the big ones usually aren’t. But being Mark Davis, he still managed to land a solid three pounder late in the quarter so the period wasn’t a total loss.

Andy Morgan found the going to be just as difficult in the 2nd period and it became evident that both of these anglers were holding out on their good spots until the second half. And while short fish were becoming the order of the day, Andy Morgan proceeded to boat a sizeable keeper of his own just after Davis had landed a keeper bass from the back of the boat.
In the second half the action really began to pick up as Mark Davis located schooling post spawners just off of the main river. Incredibly, his first few strikes were catfish, and after making a quick adjustment, the keepers started to land in the boat one after another allowing Davis to quickly fill out a strong limit.

And then, in one of the most striking moments of sportsmanship in UMF history, Mark Davis turned to the camera stated that what he didn’t like about UMF was that he was getting set to look like a bad sportsman because of what he would do to his spot once the quarter ended. Andy Morgan knew that Davis would blow the spot up and make it unfishable for him in the 4th period, gave Mark Davis his word that he would not fish the area in the fourth period allowing Mark Davis to avoid looking like, in his words, a butt hole.
In the end, Morgan found his own group of offshore fish and proceeded to quickly fill out his limit resulting in the .09 margin to take the victory. Next week, he’ll face David Walker in a rematch of their quarterfinal match that resulted in a tie. Walker won and advanced on the first tie breaker, big fish, and Morgan was left to wait until the end of two matches before finding out he qualified as the Wildcard.
